Under 15`s Reports
20/04/08 Eccleston 75-8 lost to Vernon Carus 77-4
An early season cup match played in misty conditions, seemed to be going our way till both Alex Weetman and Tom Foster were caught off topped edged pull shots off consecutive balls. Still a recovery from Steve Gilbert and Spencer Bibby seemed to set us up for a big total but the last 8 overs brought just 15 runs!!! Vernons set off comfortably and although Danny Flanagan and Tom Foster with 2 wkts each gave us hope, the total was never enough to defend.
30/04/08 Eccleston 77-6 beat Penwortham 66-9
Again in difficult conditions the batting failed to sparkle again. However, good bowling from Tom Foster, Will Roper and Spencer Bibby and 4 dismissals from Alex Weetman, turned the tide. However, the key moment was the `skied` catch taken by Matt Holt-Rodgers to dismiss their one dangerous batsman.
20/05/08 Eccleston 112-5 beat Leyland 94-6
Finally Tom Foster produced an unbeaten 50, to set the innings on the way. A late unbeaten 30 run partnership between Danny Flanagan, and Alex Weetman set us up with a hugely defendable total. Leyland never came close despite the scores, as Tom Foster didn`t bowl, and as the gloom came in the game coasted to a finish, with Luke Gibson, showing promise with good lift and pace.
03/06/08 Eccleston 70-8 lost to Chorley 71-5
This is a result that shouldn`t have happened. Ok we had a couple of players missing, and Tom Foster got an absolute cracking delivery, but 70 was never enough. It doesn`t help if batsmen continually try to play the same extra cover drive regardless of whether the ball is pitched up to drive or not. Players have to look at the gaps in the field and try to use their heads accordingly.Early wickets reduced them to 10-3 after 9 overs, game over! No! Unortunately  the support bowlers didn`t keep the pressure on and Chorley got home with one ball to spare.
13/06/08 Eccleston 83-0 beat Harris Park 81-7
Better, much better! Even without 3 senior players we produced a controlled performance in the field with Danny Flanagan and Will Roper containing early runs. An unbeaten 50 from Tom Foster supported by an unbeaten 21 from Alex Weetman, saw us home with 5.4 overs to spare.
25/06/08 Eccleston 126-2 beat Croston 60 all out.
There was a lot of pre-match talk from the opposition about how they were going to win this game as you may expect with a local derby! However once Tom Foster (50 retired) and Alex Weetman (33) had put their bowlers to the sword scoring at 7 an over, Will Roper and Danny Flanagan then took us up to a great total. Early wickets for Danny, and 3/4 from Declan Tracey saw us rip their batting apart. The win was so comprehensive that Tom Foster didn`t even bowl and Ben Batty got a couple of wickets. Bragging rights are ours methinks!
04/07/08 Eccleston 88-8 lost to Preston 89-2
This re-arranged match with ba young and weakened team was to prove of vital importance to the team (for all the wrong reasons as it subsequently turned out) Preson were no fools and early wickets including the all important one of Tom Foster (34) put us in trouble. Only Danny Flanagan of the other batsmen did themselves justice. The failure to take two early fielding chances was also hugely costly and the defeat reflected the sum of this season.
